Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Game 6 Odds and Predictions

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Game 6 Odds and Analysis

October 30th, 2018 NBA Basketball

One could say that Boston leads the Eastern Conference Finals 3-2.  One could also say home court leads the series by the same score.  So far, the host squad is 5-0 both straight up and vs. the line.  Now it’s Cleveland’s turn.  The Cavaliers will host a do or die game six on Friday.  LeBron James has been utterly dominant on his home floor.  And the Celtics have struggled with NBA games betting odds away from home.  But Boston does have a fallback.  If there is a game seven its back home.  For Cleveland a loss means the golf course.

Series so Far

Game five saw Boston beat the NBA games betting odds 96-93. They easily paid as one point favorites.  The game stayed well under the total of 205.  LeBron James had “only” 26 points for the Cavs.  Jayson Tatum had a team best 24 for the Celtics.  Once again Boston devised a successful game plan at home.  James looked rather ordinary as he has at Boston in this series.  If game seven is necessary it will take place Sunday night.

Team vs Team

Boston has beaten the online sportsbook in just two out of seven playoff away games.  Four of their last five away games have gone under the total.  Cleveland has covered their last three home post season tilts.  Five of the last eight at Quicken Loans Arena went under the total.  Cleveland has covered just two of their last ten at home against Boston.  But the Cavs have taken the last two.  Three of the last four have gone under. Boston seeks revenge for losing the Eastern Conference Finals to the Cavaliers last year.

Pressure on James

There will be intense pressure in this one.  Nobody handles do or die pressure better than LeBron James.  Time and again he has willed teams to glory.  The best example is the 2016 NBA Finals.  James carried the Cavs from a 3-1 deficit to a world championship.  So far in the playoffs James has averaged 33 points, nine rebounds and nine assists per game.

Boston has their own asset on head coach Brad Stevens.  He has the Celtics just one win away from the NBA Finals.  And without their best player.  Kyrie Irving was lost for the entire playoffs due to knee injury.  The experts laughed about Boston’s chances.  Yet Stevens has them believing.  And with a team standing toe to toe with the defending Eastern Conference champions.  It is often argued that coaches don’t make much difference in the NBA.  At least not until now.  When he was hired out of college Stevens was derided.  Now he is utterly respected.

Matchup to Watch

Seems unlikely that James will fail with the NBA games betting odds.  The matchup difference is home court.  Both teams have looked super at home.  And have appeared quite ordinary on the road.  In a do or die scenario at Quicken Loans Arena the Cavaliers should be in top form.
