Boston Celtics at San Antonio Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting on Thursday has a superb matchup on TNT television as the San Antonio Spurs host the Boston Celtics.

It is the third game of a four-game road trip for the Celtics.  Last season the teams split their two NBA betting meetings.

Basketball betting has seen the Spurs win six of the last ten against Boston straight up but the Celtics are 6-4 against the NBA betting odds. The Spurs are in the midst of a long stretch of games in the state of Texas. Going back to their game on November 9th, the Spurs will play 12 straight games in the state of Texas.  Ten of those games are at home with the only road games at Dallas and Houston in basketball betting. San Antonio has already taken advantage of the home friendly schedule and is currently 7-3 during this 12 game stretch including five straight wins.

Winning against the Celtics won’t be easy for San Antonio considering Boston has a superb record.  Last season the Spurs lost at home to the Celtics 80-77. They returned the favor and won at Boston though 105-99 in basketball betting.  The Celtics swept the season series two years ago.  Three of the last four games between the two teams have gone over the basketball betting total but that is not a trend you can count on continuing.  Overall, in the last ten meetings, six have gone under the basketball betting total.

The Celtics do have a great overall record straight up but they are such a public team that they have a losing record against the NBA betting odds.  The Celtics have been playing excellent defense as they are 3rd in the league in fewest points allowed as basketball betting stats show. They are just mid-pack on offense though and that is why they struggle to cover the basketball betting odds.

The Spurs are 9-6 straight up and 8-7 against the basketball betting line. They are much better at home versus the NBA betting line as they are 7-3. They are 10th in the league in fewest points allowed and surprisingly, they are 12th in the league in points per basketball betting game. The offense has been improved this season but they have still been inconsistent in basketball betting.  Tim Duncan is playing great as usual though and leads the Spurs in most offensive categories.
