Basketball Betting: Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat

April 11, 2012 NBA Basketball

The green of the Celtics should stand out on the sands of South Beach as a resurgant group from Boston travels to Miami tonight to tip it off against the Heat at American Airlines Arena beginning at 7:00 ET. The game will be the first half of an ESPN doubleheader.

The last time these two teams met, just over a week ago, Boston emerged with a dominant 91-72 victory on April 1st (no fooling). In that one, Rajon Rondo played “out of his mind” posting 16 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds. The Celtics defense swarmed over the Miami ” rock stars ” holding them to a season low in total points (72) with 35 percent shooting from the field. Boston did suffer a minor setback in their ascension towards the top of the Eastern Conference with two straight defeats following the game against Miami. They shouldn’t feel too bad however, since both the losses came against possibly the two best teams in the NBA, Chicago and San Antonio. They immediately came back with two consecutive wins versus two pretty good teams as well, Indiana and Philadelphia. The Celtics lead the Atlantic Division with a season mark of 32-24. They have won 7 of their last 9 and are 12-15 away from Beantown.

Miami actually lost at home for the first time in 17 tries last Friday to Memphis 97-82. But it didn’t take long to start the second streak as they came back on Sunday beating the lowly Detroit Pistons 98-75. LeBron James netted 26 points, while Chris Bosh added 22. James Jones hit six from beyond the arc.

Dwayne Wade sat that one out, favoring a sore right ankle. He was held to just 15 points in the last contest against the Celtics and is expected to play tonight. King James had 23 in the last game against Boston, but was held assistless for only the second time ever. The Celtics have lost their last two appearances in South Beach.
