Superb Pitching Matchup in Tuesday MLB Betting

March 12th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

It should be a great pitching duel on Tuesday in MLB betting as the San Francisco Giants and Tim Lincecum go up against Roy Oswalt and the Houston Astros.  Runs should be at a premium in this baseball betting game since Lincecum has an ERA of 3.11 while Oswalt has an ERA of 3.12. MLB betting odds will favor the Giants in this matchup since Lincecum is almost always a favorite.  The Giants are the better team as well which makes them even more likely to win this game.  Lincecum struck out ten in his last outing but he did give up eight hits and four walks in six innings.

Oswalt went seven innings last time out and allowed just two earned runs on six hits in a win over the Royals.  He is 5-8 on the season even though he has pitched well more often than not.  Oswalt is always capable of coming up with a big game but the Astros simply are not scoring enough runs to make him a profitable pitcher to take in baseball betting.

The Giants have owned this series against the Astros, winning eight of the last ten games. They swept the Astros in San Francisco last month, wining 4-3, 2-1 and 8-2. Lincecum and Oswalt matched up in one of those games and it was San Francisco coming out on top 2-1 in a pitching duel.  At Houston, the Giants have won five of the last six meetings in baseball betting.

San Francisco has been much better at home than on the road this season in MLB betting but with their past history of success at Houston and with Lincecum on the mound, they definitely have a chance to win on Tuesday night.  The Giants are in the top five in the league in ERA and that great pitching has kept them right in the race in the National League West.

Houston hasn’t done much right vs. the MLB betting odds this season. They have lost at home and on the road. They have one of the worst hitting lineups in the league and their pitching hasn’t been that great although Oswalt has done his part.  The Astros have been going under the total more often than they have been going over because of their lack of offense.
