Reds & Mets in Wednesday Baseball Wagering on ESPN

March 15th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

Two of the top teams in the National League meet in Wednesday’s baseball wagering as the New York Mets host the Cincinnati Reds. It is the finale of a three-game series between the teams.  The Mets have been very good at home this season and they should be a small MLB wagering favorite in this game.

The Reds are expected to go with Bronson Arroyo on Wednesday.  He was excellent last time out against Chicago as he pitched six scoreless innings. In his last three starts, Arroyo is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA.  He has been solid in his career against the Mets going 6-2 with a 3.54 ERA.

New York is planning on starting Jon Niese on Wednesday.  He is 6-2 on the year with a 3.62 ERA.  He has won five straight decisions since coming off the DL.  In his last three starts he has pitched 17.2 innings pitched and gone 2-0 with a 3.57 ERA. He has only pitched once in his career getting a no-decision.

The Reds are doing exactly what a playoff team needs to do.  They play very well at home and they are just above .500 on the road.  The Reds are 5th in the league in runs scored and they have been winning games by outscoring opponents. Cincinnati’s pitching has been inconsistent but so far this season it has been good enough to get by.  Arroyo usually gives the Reds a quality start so they should have a chance to win this game on Wednesday.

New York has been excellent at home this season and that is the main reason they are in the race in the National League East.  New York wins with pitching as they are 6th in the league in ERA.  The Mets can struggle at times to score runs but overall they are doing well enough to win more often than not. New York is 12th in the league in runs scored and with their solid pitching staff that is good enough to win games.  This is not an easy home stand for the Mets as they have to face two divisional leaders. The Reds have been leading the National League Central while the Braves have been leading the National League East.
