The AL East has been, hands down, the best division in baseball wagering over the past decade. Every year this division heats up down the stretch and the battles for the title over the years have been epic. The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox have owned this MLB betting division for most of that time and year and year out, between these two teams, one wins the title and the other qualifies for the baseball wagering playoffs as a wildcard.That is until very recently, when the Tampa Bay Rays, generally an awful, suddenly came into their own under Joe Madden and started winning games. Not only winning games, but winning a lot of them and even threatening the AL East baseball wagering domination of the Sox and Yankees.
Heading into Wednesday’s matchup these three teams are still locked atop the AL East only the recent MLB betting trajectory of each team has been somewhat conflicted. The Yankees (47-28) are now first in the division with the Sox (46-31) just 2.0 games back and the Rays (44-31) 3.0 games back.
This game –and indeed this MLB wagering series- could have a big impact on the final outcome of the division in September. Each game is like a precious commodity and can’t be wasted.
For the Sox Dice-K is back on the mound, making his second start since returning from a stint on the IR. He’s 5-2 with a 4.5 ERA. He looked alright versus the Rockies in his last start giving up just 2 runs in 5.0 IP.
The Rays will be sending one of their best starters to the mound in Matt Garza. So far this baseball wagering season Garza is 8-5 with a 4.10 ERA. Those are fine numbers and he’s been as consistent this MLB wagering season as any of the Rays starters.
But starting pitching isn’t he Ray’s problem of late. Going just 3-7 over the past MLB wagering matchups and giving up first place in the AL East, it’s been a tough couple of weeks for the Rays. This is a team that is in a bit of turmoil right now and needs to find a way to get its bats going.
Fenway is hardly the place to do this and Dice-K pitches well at home (4-1).
