Rays vs. Red Sox in AL East Baseball Betting Jackpot

March 15th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

The tables have turned and the once unbeatable Rays are struggling mightily in the MLB betting competition while the Sox are chewing up their baseball betting opponents and spitting them out. That’s the beauty of a 163 game baseball betting season: anything can and usually does happen and teams go through big momentum swings throughout the course of an MLB betting season.

The Sox (46-31) will enter the series just 2.0 games out of first in the AL East, trailing only the New York Yankees (47-28). The Rays (44-31) start the series off in third place (3.0 games back) and both teams will be eager to try and keep pace the Yankees –the team that will likely benefit the most from this series as a split would put even more distance between New York and these two teams.

The Rays have been struggling of late and are just 3-7 over their past ten baseball betting contests. The frustration of the baseball betting futility has boiled over and teammates BJ Upton and Evan Longoria recently had to be pulled apart in what appeared to the cage match in the dugout. Not a good development for a team looking to get back to wining in the baseball betting.

Nor is Boston a good place to play if you’re looking to start a baseball betting winning streak. At Fenway the Sox are 26-15 so far this year, one of the best home records in baseball betting. Nor is there any love lost between these two division rivals and Boston fans are likely to give the Rays an earful, making a baseball betting win here even more difficult.

James Shields (6-7, 4.55 ERA) will get the start for the Rays. In his past three starts he’s given up just 7 runs but he’s also pitched just 14 innings. The Sox will have the pitching advantage as new acquisition John Lackey (8-3, 4.69 ERA) has pitched alright this season but more importantly has gotten great run support when he starts a game. That should continue in this game at Fenway and the Sox should win again.
