Baseball Betting Odds Favor Padres & Latos on Saturday

March 19th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

Mat Latos and the Padres are favored in baseball betting on Saturday in Pittsburgh. Latos is coming off the DL for this start against Pittsburgh. He leads the Padres in victories and is a deserving favorite in MLB betting. Baseball betting odds don’t favor the Pirates very often and they will not be favored in this game on Saturday.  The Padres have been solid on the road and Latos has excellent numbers.  He is 10-4 on the season with a 2.45 ERA. In his last three starts he has been virtually unhittable. He is 2-0 in his last three starts with a 0.44 ERA.

The Pirates are expected to send Jeff Karstens to the mound on Saturday.  He is 2-5 with a 4.84 ERA this season.  He is 0-2 in his last three starts with a 6.35 ERA. He is 0-1 in his career against the Padres but has only pitched two innings against them.

The Padres have had a lot of success recently against the Pirates in baseball betting. The Padres had won 14 of the last 20 against the Pirates before this series began.  This is the first series between the two teams this year.  They met seven times a year ago and the Padres won four of the seven.  Three of those wins came in a four-game series at Pittsburgh.

The Padres continue to win with a pitching staff that is ranked first in the league in ERA.  The Padres have been excellent at home but they also have a winning record this season on the road.  Getting Latos back into the rotation should be a big help to San Diego since he leads them in wins and in ERA.

The Pirates are one of the worst teams in the league but at home they are at least competitive. They are right around .500 at home this season.  They rarely win on the road but at home they can steal a few games. The Pirates have a very weak offense and a poor pitching staff.  It is really hard to make a case for Pittsburgh in MLB betting but since they are underdogs in almost every game at home they have made gamblers money when they play in Pittsburgh.
