Once upon a time, the Baltimore Orioles were the gold standard of Major League Baseball. Under manager Earl Weaver in the late 1960’s all the way through the 1970s the O’s were an American League powerhouse. Weaver led the Orioles to four World Series, winning one in 1970. Most important of all Baltimore was among the most respected teams on the baseball betting board. For a brief period, modern fans got to relive the experience. 2020 Baltimore Orioles Overview
Last year the Orioles finished an abysmal 54-108 for first-year manager Brandon Hyde, who replaced Showalter. It was the second consecutive season in which the Orioles suffered well over 100 offshore betting losses. Left-hand starter John Means is expected to anchor the rotation this season. Certainly, Means was one of the lone bright spots in what was a dismal Orioles season. To show Means was 12-11 with a 3.60 earned run average and WHIP of 1.22. As a result, he was a 2019 American League All-Star. And was also named to the Baseball America All-Rookie team.
Mychal Givens
Leading the pack as favorite to remain Baltimore’s closer is Mychal Givens. Consider he saved 11 games last year on one of baseball’s worst teams. Givens was 2-6 with a 4.57 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.19. While those are not the greatest numbers 86 strikeouts in 63 innings garner attention.
Renato Nunez
Designated hitter Renato Nunez is coming off a breakout season that offers hope for Orioles backers. To illuminate, Nunez produced 72 runs with 24 doubles, 31 home runs, 90 runs batted, a .244 average, .460 slugging percentage, and .771 OPS. It was his first season as a Big League regular and he made the most of it.
