MLB odds fans have a lot of questions about the Oakland Athletics as the 2009 MLB betting odds season approaches. After several years atop the AL West the A’s have now taken a backseat to the LA Angels in the baseball odds division. But as every A’s baseball odds fan wants to know, will this be the year the A’s get back on top in the AL West’s baseball betting odds. MLB odds makers would likely say ‘no’. For Opening Day, Beane has assembled a fairly talented crew of players that should at the very least challenge for a MLB odds wild card birth. On the mound the A’s starting rotation is talented, despite how bad the MLB odds stats might have been last season. The ace in the group is Justin Duchscherer who was the only starting pitcher to notch double-digit wins in the ’08 baseball odds betting season (10-8). But he led the AL in ERA for much of the baseball odds season and with a little run support could easily win 20 games this baseball betting odds season. The bull pen is decent with side-arm Brad Ziegler a good set up man and Joey Devine the likely closer in the ’09 MLB odds season.
At the plate, the A’s scored one of the biggest bats in all of MLB betting odds competition. Picking up a Matt Holliday via trade from the Rockies was a huge move for the A’s, which had one of the weakest lineups in baseball odds last season. Holliday is the Beane prototype who gets on base and racks up extra-base hits against baseball odds pitchers. He’ll be needed as the A’s had only one hitter with more than 13 HRs (Jack Cust 33 HR). But the addition of Holliday, Jason Giambi and the return of injured Eric Chavez should provide a major boost to the offense which was nearly non-existent in the ‘08 MLB odds season.
Expect to see the A’s come charging back from an awful season in the ’08 baseball odds. This team could even be a dark horse candidate to overtake the Angels atop the AL West.
