MLB Odds Preview Nationals at Phillies

April 3rd, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

MLB odds defending champion Philadelphia Phillies are off to a terrific start in the 2009 MLB betting odds. Teams often suffer a bit of a hang over after winning the baseball odds World Series, but not the Phillies. Fielding an MLB betting odds lineup almost identical to the championship winning squad the Phillies will be a handful for the visiting Washington Nationals on May 29th. MLB odds makers will make the home team Phillies a major favorite in this match up. And why not? The Phils have been dominant this season in the MLB odds and held the lead in the NL East for the past six weeks. Their offense is one of the most potent in the baseball betting odds and their pitching has proved solid over the past two baseball odds seasons.

At the plate perennial MVP candidates Chase Utley and Ryan Howard have been their usual dominant selves against the opposing pitchers. But his season the real story has been Raul Ibanez, who thus far has been the best batter in the baseball odds in 2009. He leads the majors with 17 HRs to go with his .352 BA and his 43 RBIs. Add to this volatile offensive mi the bats of Shane Victorino and former MVP Jimmy Rollins and there are no easy outs in this baseball odds lineup.

And unfortunately for the Nationals, their pitching stinks. The exception in this case is Shairon Martis who is a perfect 5-0 in the competition this year. Beyond that, the Nats have been peppered by the opposing batters in their baseball odds match ups and for that reason they find themselves the worst team in the MLB betting odds with a paltry 13-30 record.

The only saving grace for the Nats is that they do have some powerful bats on their roster and so far the starting pitching of the Phillies has been tattooed by baseball odds opponents, with the ERA of their starting rotation somewhere around 6.0. Also one other caveat that might give the Nats hope in his baseball odds contest is the fact that the Phillies have been surprisingly bad at home.

The Phillies are 16-6 on the road but just 8-12 in Philly. And so you never know what could happen when the MLB competition gets underway. This could be one of the rare match ups in the baseball odds when the clearly inferior team (the Nats) might be able to sneak a win from the clearly superior team (the Phils).
