MLB Betting – Rays Look to Bury the Red Sox on Tuesday

April 11th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

Boston is pretty much done anyway but if they have MLB betting success against the Rays in this series they can claim some fake hope. Tampa is going to be favored on Tuesday in baseball betting at the Sbg sportsbook because they are scheduled to have 16-game winner David Price on the mound.

There are not many pitchers in baseball better than Tampa’s David Price. He is 16-6 on the season with a 2.92 ERA.  He is in the running for the American League Cy Young award and winning at Boston would help his chances. Price is 1-1 in his last three starts with a 3.43 ERA. He is 2-2 in his career against the Red Sox with a 3.81 ERA.

Rays Success – Before yesterday’s game, the Rays had won six of the last seven against Boston.  Tampa Bay has been a very good team on the road this season so they are capable of winning on Tuesday.  The Rays simply win everywhere. They have an offense that is in the top 10 in the league and their ERA is also in the Top 10.  There are not many weaknesses on Tampa Bay.

Red Sox Pitching – If the Red Sox don’t make the playoffs, and they probably won’t, they can point to their pitching.  Did you know that Boston’s pitching is well below average?  The Red Sox are allowing over four runs per game. That is simply not good enough. It would be fine if they were in another division but in the American League East against New York and Tampa Bay that won’t cut it.  Josh Beckett has been a disaster and the best pitcher on the MLB betting team has been Clay Buchholz.  Boston’s staff simply hasn’t performed well enough and that lack of success will likely keep them out of the playoffs.

Hitting or Pitching? – The slight edge in hitting goes to Boston but the big edge in pitching goes to Tampa Bay.  If the old saying that good pitching beats good hitting then Tampa Bay should win this game on Tuesday against the MLB betting line. And don’t forget that Tampa’s hitting is not that far behind Boston’s.
