MLB betting race for Cy Young Heats Up

April 11th, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball and baseball bets are a simple game of numbers when boiled down and that’s what makes the CY Young such an interesting award for so many MLB betting fans. MLB betting fans, as a rule, generally love numbers. No other award seems so dependent on stats and with the MLB betting season heading into the homestretch it’s time for pitchers to show their stuff and make a closing campaign for the most coveted pitching trophy in baseball.

Baseball betting fans have seen up and down performances for most of the year from every pitcher in contention to win the NL Cy Young. All of the top candidates to receive a baseball bet towards taking home the hardware has faced some sort of adversity and bounced back. And as of right now, the award seems to be wide open with handful of pitchers dominating the MLB betting and making this year’s race Cy Young race in the NL one of the tightest in recent memory.

At the top of the list the automatic candidate it seems and perhaps the smart baseball bet to take the award is Brandon Webb of the D-Backs. Over the past three years it would be difficult to argue that he has been the best pitcher in all of MLB betting. And not to mention the fact that he’s won MLB betting’s most prestigious pitching award before and knows what it takes to get the job done. Right now he’s tied for the baseball betting lead in wins with 13 and has a very respectable ERA of 3.11. He’s also only lost four games and plays for division leader in a very tight baseball betting division. If the D-Backs win the NL West it will have much to do with Webb’s pitching and it would be a smart baseball bet that he’ll win the CY Young.

But he’s got plenty of baseball betting competition, not the least of which is Cincy’s Edison Volquez who has been the biggest pitching surprise in MLB betting this season. No doubt, if his team wasn’t so lousy he would have the award wrapped up. With 12-3 record he ranks among the best in baseball betting and considering the fact that he leads the NL with a minuscule ERA of 249 he’s a good baseball bet to win the award as well. He also ranks among MLB betting leaders in strikeouts.

But these are just two of small group of NL pitchers who would be a good baseball bet to win it and the NL Central’s Ben Sheets and Carlos Zambrano are also right in middle of the baseball betting mix, especially if their respective teams win the pennant.
