Marlins & Mets Battle on Thursday in Baseball Gambling

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball gambling on Thursday includes the final game of a three-game series between the Marlins and Mets.

The Marlins send Nate Robertson to the mound while the Mets counter with Jon Niese.  Neither of these pitchers has much of a reputation so it could be a high scoring game in MLB gambling on Thursday night.

Baseball gambling odds on Robertson are going to be unpredictable to start the season. He came over from Detroit just over a week ago. This is actually Robertson’s second stint with the Marlins. He was drafted by Florida in 1999, and he made his big league debut with the Marlins in 2002. He was traded to Detroit before the 2003 season.  Last year he had injury issues so it is unclear how he will bounce back this season.  He was expected to be the fifth starter for the Marlins but he has been switched to start the season since he is the only left-hander in the rotation.  He could struggle in this game against a Florida team that usually hits left-handers well.

Niese gets the start for New York on Thursday.  He has never faced the Marlins.  This is only his ninth Major League start.  Last season the Marlins were 29-22 against left-handed starters but they have never faced Niese.

Before Wednesday’s game, the Marlins had won 12 of the last 20 games against the Mets even though they lost the season opener 7-1.  Florida has done okay at New York in the past. In the last MLB gambling series at New York a year ago the Marlins swept the Mets.  The Marlins lost on Opening Day but just because they lost one game, people should not jump off the Marlins.  At the same time, just because the Mets won their opener does not mean they are going to be a good team this season.  Johan Santana went in the opener and he is about the only good pitcher the Mets have in their starting rotation.

Before Wednesday’s game, five of the last six in this series had gone over the baseball gambling total.  The Marlins have an offense capable of putting up runs. Hanley Ramirez is one of the best players in the Major Leagues and he is supported in the lineup by players like Dan Uggla.  The Marlins should be able to score in this contest against Fernando Nieve.
