Home Success in Baseball Betting vs. Dodgers

April 22nd, 2024 Betting on MLB Baseball

The San Diego Padres will look to continue their home success vs. the baseball betting odds as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. The Padres have been excellent at Petco Park this season but they still don’t get a ton of respect in MLB betting, especially when they play the Dodgers.

Baseball betting odds favor the Dodgers quite a bit even though Los Angeles has not played that well. The Dodgers won the National League West a year ago but they have not gotten consistent pitching this season and they trail San Diego and San Francisco in the division. Ownership issues have been hanging over the team this season as owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie who used to be the CEO go through a messy divorce.  Manager Joe Torre is not even sure he is going to return next season. This is the final season of his $13 million dollar deal. The Dodgers have had talks with Torre about extending the deal for another season but nothing has been done.  The front office problems have pretty much put everything else on the back burner. The Dodgers did nothing in the off-season to improve their club and so far this season it has showed.

The pitching matchup on Saturday could have Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers against Kevin Correia. Kershaw has been the most reliable starter for Los Angeles and Correia has been very good for San Diego. The Padres placed Correira on the bereavement list on Tuesday as his younger brother died while hiking off the Santa Barbara coast.  Correia may still get the start on Saturday though. Tim Stauffer replaced Correia in his last start but Stauffer had an emergency appendectomy and will be out for a while. The loss of Stauffer really hurts the Padres as he pitched well in long relief for them and he was great in the spot start in place of Correia. Stauffer is 2-1 a 0.39 ERA in 10 games this season. The Padres could be looking at Cesar Ramos for a start if Correia can’t go in this baseball betting matchup.

Before yesterday’s game, the Dodgers had won 11 of the last 20 games against the Padres but San Diego won the last two games against Los Angeles last season at Petco Park by scores of 5-0 and 3-1 in MLB betting.
