Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs in MLB Preseason Betting

September 6th, 2017 Betting on MLB Baseball

MLB preseason betting has the White Sox and Cubs resuming their rivalry on Saturday.

Both teams will be looking at a lot of young players but when the White Sox and Cubs meet it is still a fun baseball betting contest.

MLB preseason betting on the Cubs should be interesting as the team has a lot of talent. The starting lineup for the Cubs could have Ryan Theriot hitting lead off and starting at short, followed by right fielder Kosuke Fukudome, first baseman Derrek Lee, third baseman Aramis Ramirez, center fielder Marlon Byrd, left field is open, second baseman Mike Fontenot and catcher Geovany Soto. "We’ve got the first phase of Spring Training out of the way," manager Lou Piniella said, “Now we get into the fun part of it, which is the games. We get a chance to see the young kids and evaluate them and let these guys compete for jobs." One thing to watch in MLB preseason betting for the Cubs is the leadoff spot. Pinella has said that Theriot and Fukudome will rotate for the next few weeks. "Neither of them will steal 40 bases," Piniella said. "I would try to stay as constant as possible, to be honest. Let’s keep an open mind and see what Spring Training does for us."

The Cubs are expected to go with Carlos Silva in this baseball betting matchup against the White Sox. "We’ve got some decisions to make here in camp, we really do," Piniella said. "They’re decisions on key spots: the rotation, the bullpen and our bench." The Cubs are pretty healthy this spring with only Ted Lilly not ready to go.

The Cubs are definitely going to get a lot of attention in MLB preseason betting. Chicago is a popular team with the public even though they don’t win on a consistent basis. The Cubs are almost always overvalued in their games and they are vastly overvalued in future odds. The White Sox don’t get nearly as much MLB preseason betting attention but their chances of winning the World Series might actually be better than the Cubs. The White Sox have an interesting team this year that could be improved, especially if Jake Peavy comes back and pitches like the star pitcher he was in the past.

The MLB preseason betting odds on this game will probably see the Cubs a slight favorite in this game simply because they are the home team.
