Cardinals Favored in Baseball Futures vs. Mets

Baseball futures favor St. Louis on Sunday as they host the New York Mets in a game that can be seen on ESPN.

The Cardinals are expected to go with Adam Wainwright and whenever he is on the mound the Cardinals are almost always favored in baseball betting.

Baseball futures indicate that this is the last game of a three-game series between the Mets and Cardinals. It is the final game of a six-game road trip for the Mets and the last game of a six-game homestand for the Cardinals. The Mets are expected to start John Maine in this game. He did not pitch well last time out with three walks, a hit batsman and a throwing error. That led to six runs for Colorado and Maine was gone.  Last year the Cardinals pounded Maine for five runs in 5 2/3 innings. Maine was very upset after that loss and he has said he is going to change things starting on Sunday.

"I'm mad right now, but I'm not at all hitting the panic button because I know what I can do," Maine said. "I've shown I can compete here." On Sunday Maine has said he is just going to let if fly. "I've been throwing so much off-speed that I've lost the feel for my fastball, and that's the pitch that I need," Maine said. "I've got to get back to challenging guys. I've got to throw my fastball. And if guys get a hit, they get a hit." New York could decide to hit Jose Reyes third on Sunday. "That's a possibility," Manuel said. "With [Angel] Pagan playing a little bit more, I think it gives us an opportunity to see Jose in that spot."

For the Mets to have a chance on Sunday in baseball futures they are going to need Maine to pitch well. Going up against Wainwright is never easy.  He has been superb in this first two starts this season.  He is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA.

Before this series began, the Mets had actually split the last ten games against the Cardinals.  A year ago they did well at home but they lost the three games in baseball betting at St. Louis.  The Cardinals are normally very tough to beat at home and with Wainwright on the mound it looks doubly tough in this Sunday night matchup.
