As the 2025 season heads to the home stretch, the future market baseball betting odds show a betting public with plenty of options. Of course, the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are the public choice. Los Angeles boasts a massive payroll and consistent success, drawing betting action their way. Yet the Dodgers are training the San Diego Padres in the National League West and are not in good recent form. By contrast, the Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in baseball. Despite Milwaukee ranking 20th in payroll, it continues to find a way.

Where Did This Sweet Brew Come From?
Previously, the Milwaukee Brewers lost many of their marquee players and the man considered to be the best manager in baseball over the past two years. At the beginning of the 2025 season, the Brewers were ignored on the sports betting future market. After a sluggish start, Milwaukee caught fire in late June and has become the most profitable team on the board. The Brewers lead the National League Central by a wide margin and have impressive metrics that reveal balance. To illustrate, Milwaukee ranks 3rd for run production and 3rd for earned run average.
Namely, Christian Yelich has rebounded with an impressive season. Yelich has 26 home runs and a .815 OPS. As well as Yelich has produced, the most impressive story is Andrew Vaughn, who arrived from the White Sox on June 13. Vaughn had terrible numbers in Chicago, but has found his stroke with the Brewers. In his first 38 games as a Brewer, Vaughn produced a .932 OPS with nine home runs and 37 runs batted in. Closer Trevor Megil is 5-2 with a 2.20 earned run average. He has 30 saves in 35 chances with a 1.09 WHIP.
Most important of all, the Brewers do the little things well. They play good defense and are aggressive on the base paths. Milwaukee ranks 2nd for stolen bases and is fundamentally sound. Second-year manager Pat Murphy is outshining his predecessor, Craig Counsell, who was a hometown hero before he defected to the rival Chicago Cubs.
Padres Challenge Dodgers in the NL West
Although the San Diego Padres no longer operate on a shoestring budget, they do not have the payroll of the megamarket Los Angeles Dodgers. Yet San Diego is holding a slim lead over the Dodgers for the NL West division lead. Late on, the Padres have been bossing the cashier’s cage with 12 payouts in their most recent 17 games. The Padres MLB odds asset is a pitching staff that ranks 2nd for earned run average and 1st for bullpen ERA. Of great concern is that the Padres rank 22nd for run production.
The St. Louis Cardinals fired manager Mike Shildt after the 2021 season. Despite leading the Cardinals to the playoffs in his final three seasons, St. Louis thought they could do better with Oliver Marmol. While St. Louis hasn’t made the playoffs since 2022, Shildt is leading San Diego to the playoffs for the second straight season.
First in production for the Padres is Manny Machado with 77 runs, 32 doubles, 21 home runs, 78 runs batted in, and an .836 OPS. Meanwhile, closer Robert Suarez has 34 saves in 39 chances.
