Betting Major League Baseball on Sox & Cubs

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball betting on Saturday will feature Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Silva going for his ninth win of the season as the Cubs host the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs are in the spotlight for those betting Major League Baseball on Sunday with the game televised on ESPN.  The Sox and Cubs are popular teams in MLB props and futures but unfortunately, neither has done very well this season.

Betting Major League Baseball with the White Sox and the Cubs has been a losing proposition this season.  Both teams have losing records and both teams could be making changes soon.  This matchup on Sunday night is expected to feature Gavin Floyd pitching for the White Sox and Ted Lilly for the Cubs.  Floyd is 2-6 on the season with a 6.18 ERA while Lilly is 1-5 with a 3.28 ERA.

Floyd has not pitched well this season and those betting Major League Baseball realize that is one reason the White Sox have struggled.  He did pitch well last time out against Detroit as he held them to one run in six innings but he still didn’t get the win as the bullpen blew the game. He has pitched once against the Cubs in the past and gave up one run and four hits in seven innings.

Lilly has been a hard luck pitcher this season. His ERA is excellent but he has just one win on the year.  Those betting Major League Baseball have seen him with six straight quality starts and he didn’t get a win in any of them.   He is only the second pitcher in Cubs history to make six straight quality starts and not get a victory.

The home team doesn’t always win when the Cubs and White Sox play. In fact, the road team has more than held their own in this series for those gamblers betting Major League Baseball.  Last season the White Sox won two of three at Wrigley Field.  The White Sox have not been a good home team or a good road team this season so it is tough to get too excited about wagering on them when betting Major League Baseball.  It is not easy to take the Cubs either as they are not a very good team.  At least at Wrigley they have been decent.  The Cubs have gotten decent pitching this season but their offense has struggled.  Losing Aramis Ramirez won’t help as the Cubs recently put him on the DL.
