Betting Major League Baseball Includes AL Central Leaders

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Sunday is the last chance to be betting Major League Baseball until after the All-Star game.

Sunday’s action includes a battle in the American League Central as Detroit hosts Minnesota.  These are the two top teams in MLB props and futures in the AL Central and this is a key matchup before the break.

Betting Major League Baseball on Minnesota games is usually entertaining as the Twins are normally in every game.  They are expected to send Carl Pavano to the mound on Sunday.  He has been their most consistent starter this season, going 9-6 with a 3.58 ERA.  He has thrown 21 2/3 innings in his last three starts and is 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA. He has had a lot of success against Detroit in the last 10 years as he is 4-2 with a 2.88 ERA.

The Tigers are scheduled to send Andrew Oliver to the mound on Sunday.  He is 0-2 on the season wit ha 5.93 ERA. He lost to Minnesota last week but Detroit manager Jim Leyland likes the left-hander against the Twins and their powerful left-handed hitting duo of Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau.

The Twins are in a fight with Detroit and the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central. The Twins have not gotten great pitching this season and their hitting has not been as good as it was earlier in the season.  Minnesota is just outside the top 10 in hitting and in team ERA and to make the playoffs they will probably need to pick up a pitcher or another bat before the trade deadline.

Detroit wins at home and loses on the road.  It is oftentimes just that simple with the Tigers when you are betting Major League Baseball. They have a very good home record but they do not win enough on the road.  If the Tigers ever get their road record straightened out they would win the AL Central.  Detroit’s stats are actually worse than Minnesota’s in hitting and in ERA so they have just as many issues as the Twins heading into the second half of the season.  Miguel Cabrera is having a superb season on the offensive side while Justin Verlander is again leading the Tigers in wins and ERA.
