Bet on Baseball – Rockies and Cubs Pitching Takes a Hit

Bet on Baseball – Rockies and Cubs Pitching Takes a Hit. Gamblers who bet on baseball at Sbgglobal are taking note that the Colorado Rockies will be without their best pitcher, Ubaldo Jimenez for at least the next 10 days while the Chicago Cubs will be without lost two starting pitchers. The Rockies should be able to survive the loss of Jimenez for a couple of his starts but the Cubs could struggle in baseball betting without two of their starters.

Jimenez on the DL
The Rockies put Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list but they made it retroactive to April 2nd so he could come off and pitch on April 17th. Jimenez has a cuticle cut on his right thumb and the Rockies want to get it taken care of now. Jimenez was very poor in his first start as he gave up six runs, five of which were earned against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies have recalled Greg Reynolds who was the second overall pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He is set to start on Saturday at Pittsburgh. Jimenez was 19-8 with a 2.88 ERA last season.  The Rockies are hoping to get something out of Reynolds who is 2-8 with an 8.13 ERA in 14 career games but he did pitch well this spring.  Gamblers who bet on baseball may be cautious about backing the Rockies with Reynolds but with Colorado’s offense they are always capable of winning.

Cubs Lose Two Starters
The Cubs lost both Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner to injuries.  Wells has a forearm strain while Cashner has a shoulder strain. Both pitchers had MRIs and neither has serious damage.  The Cubs will now have to struggle to find starters at the back end of their rotation.  They will really miss Cashner who was excellent in his first start before leaving with the injury.  The Cubs will likely call up Casey Coleman to make a start and they may look at James Russell to make a start as well.  The Cubs are going to have problems without Wells and Cashner.  Wells threw 194 1/3 innings last year and has been a workhorse.  The Cubs could be without both Wells and Cashner for three to four weeks.  Chicago is already overrated in baseball betting odds and the Cubs could be exposed now that they are without two of their starting pitchers.
