Bet on Baseball – Dodgers at Pirates

May 31, 2011 MLB Baseball

Gamblers that bet on baseball have had to change their opinion of the Pittsburgh Pirates as the team is no longer terrible.

The Pirates come into this game with a better record than Los Angeles and they are favored in baseball betting at SBG in this Thursday night contest.

This is the fourth game of the series between the Dodgers and Pirates. The teams split the first two games of the series.  The first game went under the total while the second game went over.

Los Angeles Starting Pitcher – Jon Garland
The Dodgers are going with Jon Garland on Thursday and he has not been that bad as a #5 starter. He is just 1-2 but his ERA is pretty good at 3.66. He is 0-1 in his last three starts but his ERA is 3.32. He has been very good in his career against the Pirates with a 2.16 ERA although his record is just 2-2.

Pittsburgh Starting Pitcher – Charlie Morton
What a great story Charlie Morton has been this season for the Pirates. He is 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA. He has been superb in his last three starts with a 2-0 record and a 2.84 ERA. He has thrown only six innings in his career against the Dodgers with an 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA.

Thursday Night Parlay
Garland has good numbers for the Dodgers but they simply don’t win his starts. The Dodgers are 0-5 in Garland’s last five road starts. The Dodgers are 2-6 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter.  Pittsburgh is playing well behind Morton and he would seem to have the edge in this matchup.  The total should go under in baseball betting based on the numbers.  The Under is 6-1 in the Dodgers last 7 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Under is 7-2 in the Dodgers last 9 overall. The Under is 4-1 in Garland’s last 5 road starts. The Under is 4-0 in the Pirates last 4 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The Under is 7-2 in the Pirates last 9 home games. The Under is 9-3-2 in Morton’s last 14 home starts.   It sure looks like a Pittsburgh and under the total parlay is worth a shot as you bet on baseball.
