Rangers Favored in Sunday Baseball Futures with Hunter

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball futures on Sunday favor the Texas Rangers with unbeaten Tommy Hunter on the mound.

He will be going for his eighth straight win as the Rangers host the Los Angeles Angels.  Texas has been solid at home this season vs. the baseball betting lines and they are favored in this game on Sunday.

Baseball futures normally favor the Rangers when they are playing in their home park.  Texas has been very tough to beat in Arlington this season.  The Rangers have a good chance to win on Sunday since Tommy Hunter will be on the mound. Hunter is 7-0 on the season with a 2.09 ERA.  He is the first Texas pitcher to win his first seven decisions of a season.  He is 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA in six starts at home.  The only concern for gamblers backing the Rangers is that Hunter is 0-2 with a 9.82 in two starts vs. the Angels but both of those starts were last season.

The Angels are set to go with Sean O’Sullivan on Sunday.  He is 1-0 on the season with a 2.08 ERA.  He was very good in a spot start last time out against the Yankees.  Perhaps the Angels should consider putting O’Sullivan in the rotation on a permanent basis. They are 9-2 in his 11 career starts.  He is 2-0 in his career against the Rangers with a 2.70 ERA.

This game on Sunday is the finale of a big series between these two teams. The Rangers had won 11 of the last 20 games between the two teams before this series began.  The Rangers won both home matchups against the Angels back in May.

The Angels are above .500 this season but they are not getting enough quality starts from their rotation.  The Angels are well below average in team ERA and even though their offense is pretty good, it is not good enough to make up for poor pitching.  If O’Sullivan can step in and continue to give them quality starts it would really help their cause.

The Rangers are in the top 5 in hitting and they are in the top 10 in ERA.  Anytime a team is in the top 10 in both categories it means they have a chance to win any game vs. the baseball betting odds.
