Their offense is not bad but it is not nearly good enough to make up for a rotten pitching staff.
San Diego is 27-19 at home this season. The Padres win with pitching as they have the top team ERA in the league. San Diego’s offense does just enough to get by led by first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. The Padres have won four of the six meetings against Arizona this season. At Petco Park the Padres swept the Diamondbacks back in April. The totals in the six games this season have been pretty low and the over/under in those games are 2-2 with two ties.
Predicting a total with Arizona usually means a high number since the Diamondbacks have no pitching and decent hitting. The Padres are the opposite with great pitching and below average hitting.
