Baseball Betting Preview: Rockies vs. A’s

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball betting presents all kinds of rare match ups that you just don’t see every day in online sports betting.

Playing in two difference leagues it’s not often that fans have the opportunity to bet on baseball games featuring the Oakland A’s against the Colorado Rockies. But that’s exactly what the baseball betting faithful will get on Friday June 26 when the Rockies come to town to play a three game series against Oakland.

Baseball betting has a rich tradition in the Bay Area and there have been many online sports betting memories made there over the years. But this year Oakland has gotten off to a rough start and doesn’t look to have the talent to pull off a major baseball betting turn around either. As anyone who read MoneyBall knows, it’s highly unlikely that the tight fisted and brilliant Billie Beane will trade for a big name free agent to turn the team’s bet on baseball fortunes around.

On the mound the team just doesn’t have the starting talent it had several years ago when it had the best rotation in baseball betting. Today it’s a shell of its former self. Bailey, Braden and Outman have all put up good numbers but none of them is lasting past the fifth inning in their baseball betting starts.

Things get worse for the team at the plate, which is the main cause of its baseball betting demise. If you want to bet on baseball that full of hits and runs, do not make a wager on an A’s baseball betting game. Big free-agent-signing Matt Holliday has been average at best, and washed out in the minds of most sports betting gurus.

The Rockies started the 2009 baseball betting season looking to be pathetic as usual. And they were. But then manager Curt Hurdle was fired and all of sudden the Rockies are the hottest bet on baseball team in the league. Since Hurdles firing the team has catapulted up the baseball betting standings with a 13-1 record. Without Holliday there to pick up the slack Brad Hawpe has been stellar with a .349 BA and 50 RBIs. Todd Helton is up to his old tricks, and even at less than 100% SS Troy Tulowitski is still a baseball betting game changer.

The Rockies should be able to pound the A’s in Oakland. The pitching staff has undergone a transformation since Hurdle’s departure and boasts a nine game winner in Jason Marquis.

Short of an act of God, the baseball betting odds seem remarkably high that the Rockies leave with a victory.
