Baseball Betting: Angels vs. Athletics

August 8, 2012 MLB Baseball

The Halos will once again shine above the bay tonight as the Los Angeles Angels meet the Oakland Athletics in game two of this American League West showdown series. Game number two is scheduled to begin at 10:05ET under clear, but chilly skies with gametime temperatures expected to be only in the upper 50’s.

The A’s bats were a bit cold in last nights series opener between these two teams. That was no great surprise given the Angels had ace Jered Weaver on the mound who did not disappoint the L.A. fans. He allowed Oakland just 4 hits in the 4-0 shutout victory. Weaver went the distance for his MLB leading fifteenth win. He is now an incredible 15-1 with a 2.13 earned run average. He fanned nine and did not allow a base on balls. Erick Aybar returned from the disabled list for L.A. and had three singles and two runs scored on the night. Mike Trout had 3 steals to add to his league leading total of 36. Check the Baseball Odds for Angels vs. Athletics game.

Brandon Inge went 2 for 3 with a double for Oakland who played without Yoenis Cespedes who is now considered day to day.  Los Angeles (59-51) leapfrogged Oakland (58-51) for second place in the AL West. The Angels trail division leader Texas by 5 games, while the Athletics are 5.5 off the pace. Both teams are just 4-6 in their last 10.

Los Angeles is an even .500 (29-29) away from Hollywood and Oakland is 32-26 at Coliseum. Start your Baseball Betting action on Angels vs. Athletics game.

Tonight’s pitching matchup finds southpaw C.J. Wilson climbing the mound for Los Angeles. He is 9-7 on the year, along with an earned run average of 3.27. In his last start versus Texas on Thursday he allowed 8 runs in just five and a third innings of work. Righthander, Bartolo Colon will throw for Oakland, posting an even 8-8 record and 3.55 ERA. He had a fine outing last Thursday against Toronto going 8 innings without allowing a run.

The Angels are road favorites at -$140 and the Athletics are a +$130. The over/under is 7 total runs on a $110/$100 moneyline.
