Baseball Bet Mariners Extend King Felix, Tigers Sign Valverde

Baseball bet has one of the hot teams this off-season being the Seattle Mariners.

The team has made a number of moves that makes them a contender next season in baseball betting and now they have locked up their big pitcher, Felix Hernandez to a long-term deal.

Baseball bet has the Mariners with one of the best one-two punches in terms of starting pitchers. With Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee, the Mariners can match any team’s first line starters. The Mariners wanted to make sure that King Felix was going to be with the team for a long time so they locked him up with a multi-year deal worth about $80 million.

Baseball bet stats had Hernandez going 19-5 for Seattle in 2009 with a 2.46 ERA.  He is the key player on a team that has seen their baseball betting odds to win the World Series drop to 18-1.  The Mariners have made a lot of off-season baseball bet noise as they have signed third baseman Chone Figgins, traded for Cliff Lee and Milton Bradley and re-signing Franklin Gutierrez and Ken Griffey Jr. The Mariners are definitely a team to watch as you make a baseball bet in 2010.

The Detroit Tigers are another team that could be improved in baseball betting in 2010.  They have had closer issues for years but they may have solved their problems with the signing of Jose Valverde. They signed Valverde to a two-year, $14 million dollar deal on Tuesday.  The agreement was worked out last week but finalized on Tuesday.  The deal includes a $9 million dollar option for the 2012 season. Valverde has been an excellent closer the past two years. He saved 25 games in 29 chances last baseball bet season for Houston. He was 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA as baseball bet stats showed. He led the National League in saves in 2007 and in 2008.

"We think Jose is one of the premier closers in the game," Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "He addresses to us what was our biggest need on our ballclub and gives us a chance, we think, to have a very solid pitching staff." It would be hard to argue that statement considering the numbers Valverde has put up.  The Tigers did not sign Fernando Rodney or Brandon Lyon so they needed someone like Valverde. Rodney went to the Los Angeles Angels while Lyon went to Houston. Baseball betting has Valverde as superior to either of those two pitchers.
