KANSAS CITY ROYALS 2008 SUMMARY

Baseball betting experts see that the Royals picked up a few players in the off-season including outfielder Jose Guillen, but that will not be enough to get the Royals back to .500 this season.

Baseball bet odds on Kansas City should eventually turn around. The Royals have a good front office now with Dayton Moore as the GM and are moving in the right direction, but it will take time. Baseball bet experts see that the Royals have some pitching talent led by Gil Meche, Brian Bannister, Zack Grienke, Luke Hudson and Luke Hochevar. Baseball betting experts report that they also picked up Brett Tomko in the offseason. Most baseball bet experts believe the top three starters are set with Tomko probably getting the fourth spot. The fifth start is totally up for grabs according to experts that make a baseball bet.

Baseball bet experts believe the offense is weak. Even with the addition of Guillen the Royals will have trouble scoring runs. David DeJesus and Mark Teahen have talent and Alex Gordon is a future star but overall the lineup looks to be one that has trouble scoring. The Royals have an aging Mark Grudzielanek at second base and a swing and miss catcher in John Buck. They also have nothing at first base and a young shortstop in Tony Pena Jr according to baseball bet experts. Billy Butler could develop into a nice player but that has not happened yet. Baseball bet experts report that new Royals manager Trey Hillman has said that John Buck will start the season as the catcher but the Royals did pick up Miguel Olivo who easily could see playing time.

Kansas City does have a nice closer in Joakim Soria so that helps. The rest of the bullpen is average at best. Joel Peralta can be good at times as can lefty Jorge De La Rosa according to those experts that make a baseball bet. Leo Nunez and newcomer John Bale are also part of the bullpen picture according to baseball bet experts.

Many baseball betting experts believe Kansas City is finally on the right track. Moore is a good GM and getting rid of Buddy Bell as manager is a big step in the right direction according to baseball bet experts. The Royals still have rotten ownership but perhaps Moore can at least get them going the right way and make them an interesting baseball betting proposition.
