Kentucky Derby Betting – Odds on 2010 Kentucky Derby

Kentucky Derby betting is arguably the best two minutes in all of sports.

2010 Kentucky Derby odds will be on the board for the race which takes place on Saturday, May 1st. NBC has the televised coverage of the race while ESPN will show the races leading up to the Derby.

Kentucky Derby wagering gives gamblers a lot of great options for the 136th running of the Run for the Roses. Even though horse racing in general is not as popular as it used to be, the Kentucky Derby always attracts attention. It is the one horse race of the year that everyone has to see. The Preakness and the Belmont are interesting and the Breeders’ Cup has a lot of races but nothing matches the excitement of the Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby is held each year at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky and is run at a mile and a quarter. The race is the first one in the United States Triple Crown series. It is followed by the Preakness and Belmont in upcoming weeks. The Kentucky Derby is likely to have a full field and that gives gamblers a lot of mouth watering odds to consider and some great exotic bets including the trifecta and superfecta.

Last year the winner in Kentucky Derby odds was Mine That Bird. He was an upset winner with jockey Calvin Borel aboard. Two years ago it was Big Brown winning the race as the favorite while Street Sense won the race three years ago.

Kentucky Derby lines this year are likely to favor Eskendereya. This horse is simply the best one in the field. Anyone that is going to bet on Kentucky Derby horses in 2010 simply has to consider the Todd Pletcher trained horse. If Pletcher doesn’t finally break his losing streak in the Derby with this horse then he may never break it. This is a horse that finished ninth in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile last year but since that time he has dominated. He won very easily in the Fountain of Youth this year and then won the Wood Memorial in a romp. The distance of the Kentucky Derby is no concern for this horse and Pletcher finally looks like he has a horse that should win. That has been said in the Kentucky Derby many times before though although in recent years more favorites have won including Big Brown a couple of years ago.
