Just One Week to go for Kentucky Derby Betting!

2018 Kentucky Derby Betting preview

Anticipation is growing with a week to go for Kentucky Derby Betting.  As we outlined last week Justify, Bolt D’Oro and Magnum Moon are popular picks.  But great values are hardly limited to that threesome.  Among the best aspects of the 2018 Derby are the multitude of quality choices.  Value assessment as always is of paramount importance.  Currently the field has several quality contenders to pick from.  However, a “Super Horse” is yet to be discovered.  And the danger for overlays is always present.  With that in mind let’s review more top choices for Derby Day!

Justify

Justify remains the Kentucky Derby Betting favorite at 5/2.  Bolt D’oro was touted from the start and is now at 7/2.  Magnum Moon has caught attention and has been bet up to 4/1.  Also, in the top tier is Mendelssohn at 11/2.  Audible is gaining ground at 6/1.  Same with My Boy Jack also at 6/1.  Good Magic has garnered favor at 8/1.  Previous favorite Noble Indy has dropped down to 25/1.  Perhaps Noble Indy is a bargain hunter selection.  Big favorites that later drop often prove to be top values.

Mendelssohn

Mendelssohn has also been touted as a potential online sportsbook wild card pick.  As winner of the UAE Derby the colt caught eyes. Veterans are often skeptical about wins in Dubai.  Yet such payouts never fail to build street cred.  Speed in the UAE Derby impressed all.  A win by 18 ½ lengths was utter dominance.  Aidan O’Brien is among the top trainers in the world.  Horse players love that combination.

Audible

Audible is a Todd Pletcher trained horse which always opens eyes.  Pletcher is another top tier trainer.  With a win in the Florida Derby Audible catapulted to the top of the board.  Such victories do much to impress gamblers.  Few races prior to the Kentucky Derby carry as much prestige.

Breeders Cup Juvenile

Another big race to pad a resume is the Breeders Cup Juvenile.  Good Magic was the winner of that event last fall.  Victors of the BC Juvenile immediately leap to the top of the chalk board.  But a lethargic run in the March 3 Fountain of Youth damaged the brand.  Redemption did come afterwards however.  Taking the Blue Grass Stakes in Keeneland put handicappers in a forgiving mood.  Sobering up many was the fact that the Blue Grass Stakes field wasn’t great.  So, it’s a mixed bag for Good Magic.  Plenty of potential but a resume of doubt.  Trainer Chad Brown is a definite asset that may enhance the overall value of this horse.

Noble Indy

Noble Indy is another Pletcher trained horse.  Taking the March 24 Louisiana Derby was an attention grabber. Winning the race by a mere neck showed fortitude. Concerning was the effort needed to beat a mediocre field there.  Pletcher may have four entries on Derby Day. The one labeled a “brat” is Noble Indy.

Matchup to Watch

A Pletcher trained former Kentucky Derby Betting favorite is an enticing prospect.  Noble Indy could bring considerable upside.

Kentucky Derby Betting Odds Picks

Noble Indy may well emerge with a Blanket of Roses on Derby Day.  At 25/1 he deserves a shot!
