Potential Sleepers Abound with Golf Betting Lines at TOUR Championship

2019 TOUR Championship-

At the onset of this week’s climatic TOUR Championship is a question.  “Where did this guy come from?”  Justin Thomas has fought his way to the top of the FedEx Cup standings heading into the final weekend.  Thomas is now the favorite with the Golf betting lines to hoist the second FedEx Cup of his career.  In the same way, Patrick Cantlay came from nowhere to become a betting favorite as well.  Meanwhile, Brooks Koepka has gone from the favorite and assumed champion to a fighting underdog.  With Tiger Woods out gamblers have plenty to mull.

TOUR Championship Handicapping Overview

At the beginning of the week, Justin Thomas is still seen as a Golf Betting Lines underdog by many gamblers.  Just last week he was an afterthought as another underdog to Koepka.  But his win at the BMW Championship last week changed everything.  Of great concern is that Thomas finished outside the top 10 in 11 of his previous 12 tournaments before the BMW Championship.  Handicapping a winner for Sunday is a tremendous challenge.  This weekend’s field is among the most competitive and even possible.

Cantlay Emerges from Shadows

In like manner, Patrick Cantlay was an offshore betting afterthought until his second-place finish at the BMW Championship.  Cantlay has been on a roller coaster ride the past several weeks.  As an example, he finished outside the top ten in five straight tournaments before last week.  Before that, he finished third or better in three consecutive tournaments.  Which Cantlay will show up this weekend?  That will keep gamblers tossing and turning.

Jon Rahm Set for Ambush?

In this situation, a pattern of surprise winners leads to interesting possibilities. Among them is Jon Rahm.  Last week Rahm finished a solid fifth at the BMW Championship.  He has been in good form with finishes of seventh or better in six of his last seven tournaments.  Included in that was a win at the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open.  Overall Rahm is sixth on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Compared to the rest of the field he combines good recent form with ability and betting value.

A Reed on Patrick

Namely 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed will be another choice of bargain hunters.  Reed is 16th on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Although he won the Northern Trust in week 32, he slipped to 19th at the BMW Championship.  Of great concern is Reed’s inconsistency.  Many weeks he has been mediocre.  Yet his win at the Northern Trust shows what he can do when in form.

Adam Scott

Hence another top tier player that could bring Golf Betting Lines value is Adam Scott.  Namely, he was the winner of the 2013 Masters.  Scott is coming off back to back top nine finishes heading into this week.  Correlate the finished second at the Memorial Tournament, fifth at the Northern Trust and ninth at the BMW Championship.
