Golf betting starts to heat up as golfers compete for the FedEx Cup title in the Deutsche Bank Championship on September 4th. This is the second of the four playoff events and should attract some attention from gamblers who bet on golf at the sports book.
Golf last season at the sportsbook saw Vijay Singh win this event. Singh is playing better of late and could be a factor in this golf event. This year is a little bit different in golf betting with the FedEx Cup point system and the playoffs for the season. Bet on golf facts tell us that the points do not reset until before the TOUR Championship. That means a player can’t wrap up the FedEx Cup title before the TOUR Championship as they could in the past as golf numbers indicate. Vijay believes he has a decent chance to win along with some other players. “You know, FedEx is a very different tournament.” Singh said, “With Camilo (Villegas) winning the last two events last year he would have won. Anybody that’s playing well is going to have a chance. Obviously Tiger is going to be a big factor there. I don’t know how many tournaments he’s going to play. I think everybody going into the FedEx is going to be all pumped up and fired up, and whoever is going to play well is going to I think anybody in the top 50 has got a great chance of winning the whole thing.”
The Playoffs for the FedEx Cup this season in golf consist of four events, starting with The Barclay’s and continuing with the Deutsche Bank Championship. The points for these four bet on golf events will be quintupled as golf betting stats indicate, making the winning point value for each Playoff championship 2,500. Golf tells us that each players point total throughout the regular season and the first three playoff championship will determine their qualification for THE TOUR Championship. The top 10 seeds after the points have been reset for THE TOUR championship will have a great chance to win in golf betting. Any of the top 5 seeds that win THE TOUR Championship will win the FedEx Cup outright as golf has it.
For the Deutsche Bank Championship, the top 100 players make the golf field. After this bet on golf event the top 70 players go to the BMW Championship and then the field is cut to the Top 30 players who can win THE TOUR Championship.
