Golf odds for the Open in Las Vegas should be competitive as many top golfers look to win the tournament.

The main sponsor of the tournament is Fry’s Electronics. Those fans that are betting golf may be aware that last year the prize purse was $4 million with $720,000 going to the winner. Many fans that look at golf odds know that the tournament was founded in 1983. It used to be played over five rounds over many courses but that changed in 2003. Many golf betting fans may remember that Tiger Woods got his first PGA Tour win at the tournament in 1996.

Many fans that look at golf odds remember that this tournament was the first PGA Tour event in history to offer a total prize purse of more than $1 million. This year the tournament is celebrating their 25th anniversary. The Shriners Hospitals for Children is running the tournament. Last year’s winner was Troy Matteson who was a huge long shot on the golf odds betting board. Matteson won as a 26 year-old first-time PGA Tour winner. He entered the tournament ranked 143rd on the money list but with the victory got a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

Likely golf odds favorites for the Open this year are Jim Furyk, Stuart Appelby and Davis Love III. This year’s tournament begins on Thursday, October 11th and concludes on Sunday, October 14th. It will be televised by the Golf Channel.
