In the Group of Death the USA ended on top of the group as they slipped by Nigeria, and now they seek to go with their momentum, and surprise their opponent Columbia in this Round of 16 in this Monday evening game.

The question her is can the USA win and move on to the Quarters, or will Columbia pull of a huge upset and beat the Gringos?

For those that Bet on Soccer and whom are looking for some great gambling odds, then if you’re a fan of the USA check out their odds on this match-up. Since the USA ended on the top of their Group D they now travel to Edmonton, Ontario after they got past Nigeria 1-0 at the BC Place, and now are in the Group of 16. This USA Women’s team has in 6 of the 7 Women’s World Cups made it to the knockout stage, quite an accomplishment for the ladies.

The team Captain for USA is Wanbach who for the national team in her 245 appearances has some 183 goals. She is accompanied by another star striker A. Morgan who is said to be the most popular player in Women’s soccer, returned to play after nursing a bruised knee. To date she played 65 minutes in the Nigeria game, and total of 23 minutes in the games with Sweden and Australia. She provides some special talent for set pieces play, as the USA had 6 corners and 12 free kicks and only managed 1 score. Her Morgan can help, as in her 87 games she has score 51 goals in international play.

Then for the fans of Columbia your team has made it to another stage in the WWC-Canada with their place in the round of 16 on Tuesday. Amazingly the team came this far after losing to England in the last group game 2-1, but their total of 4 points in the group stage allowed them to move on to this round of 16.

In this 2nd round the Columbia team has the USA Team who lies in waiting is the tournament favorites coming into the playoffs. However, that does not seem to shake the Columbian team as to date they have shown that they can play and beat the best in this tournament. Prove of that is their incredible upset on Saturday the 13th of June beating the French in Group F 2-0. Columbia came into the tournament ranked 28th. They turned out to be the team that beat a top ranked team France, since FIFA started the rankings in 2003 and forward.

Certainly the Columbian team has its work in store, up against an experienced USA team, that already has what it takes to win this event, as they have won it some 2 times previously. Now a major setback for the Columbian team is the loss of goalkeeper S. Sepulveda who has been suspended after getting her 2nd yellow card in this tournament in the England game. She was a key factor in her teams win over France 2-0 as she had some 6 saves in the game. Her substitute is S. Castano who has only played in 6 international games for the Las Cafeteras (as the team is called in Columbia).

With that being the case, the Columbia team will need a complete team effort to pull off an upset over the USA. The team’s bread and butter have been their counter attack so watch for Columbia to hit the USA on a break and the chances come forth for their team. A player whose performance has excelled for the Columbian team is L. Andrade who to date has scored 2 goals in the games, with 1 goal each in play against France and England. In her career with Las Cafeteras she has in her 44 games scores dome 9 goals.

The experts we talked with have said they think the USA will win the game against Columbia 3-0 and move on to the Round of 8!
