Tuesday Doubleheader Wraps Up Round of 16

So far, Morocco has been one of the upstart surprises with the World Cup Odds. Although Morocco remains a decided underdog, they are in the Round of 16. But a Tuesday date with Spain is not expected to go well. Spain is as talented as any team in the World Cup. And they have the motivation to atone for a terrible showing in 2018. Thus far, one of the tournament’s best games is on Tuesday between Portugal and Switzerland. Gamblers are not as certain about that second match.

Following a draw against Croatia in their opening match, Morocco took it to Belgium 2-0. And then they finished off the top of the group by beating Canada, 2-1. In a group with Belgium and Croatia, there were heavy sportsbook odds against them. Yet, a very strong performance puts them in an interesting spot against another powerhouse, Spain.

The Morocco team has been terrific over the tournament’s first three games. In turn, they surrendered possession, giving up 59% to Canada, 67% to Belgium, and 65% to Croatia. They will likely continue to do the same to Spain. Correlate that Spain will take a stronghold on possession early in the game. Namely, Ziyech and En-Nesyri are on the attack for Morocco. Hence the threat of counter-attacking football will be there for the Moroccans. Armrabat has done a terrific job in the middle, and they are a deep team.

Previously, Before the Japan game, the Spain squad has been dominant in possession. Following a 7-0 opener over Costa Rica, Spain took on Germany. The Germans were touted as a tough opponent. But Germany’s play was sloppy from the start. A 1-1 draw with Germany still left Spain needing a result to top the group. Spain will be heavy favorites in almost any game. Cause by the talent of the names Torres and Rodri in the back and Busquets and Pedri in the midfield.

Group H winners Portugal face Switzerland on Tuesday evening in the World Cup’s final round of 16. Despite losing to South Korea in stoppage time, Fernando Santos steered Portugal out of the group stage for the fourth major tournament in a row. Portugal has opened the scoring in eight of their last nine World Cup games. In comparison, Switzerland lost all four knockout games in the competition when they conceded first.
