Sweden vs. Switzerland Dead Even World Cup Betting Match

World Cup betting Round of 16 Sweden vs. Switzerland

One would be hard pressed to find a more even pairing of teams on Tuesday.  Sweden and Switzerland are quite similar in styles and culture.  Neither is a spectacular World Cup betting squad.  Both can put fans to sleep at times.  Defense is the focal point for each lineup.  Entertaining football is often lacking as a result.  Countering the lack of fireworks is team work.  Few teams in the field of 32 play as well together.  Both units are greater than the total sum of their parts.  Consequently, punters find this match a challenging handicap.

So Far for Switzerland

Switzerland is sort of limping into the Round of 16.  In Group E they posted a win and two draws.  They scored five goals and allowed four.  Perhaps La Nati had its best match in their opener.  The Swiss tied uber favorite Brazil 1-1.  True, the Swiss needed a defensive lapse to score.  Brazil got lazy on a corner and it cost them the win.  But a draw against the World Cup betting Super Power is not to be derided.  In their second match Switzerland defeated Serbia 2-1.  It proved to be decisive in their making the Round of 16.

Bad Beat against Costa Rica

Switzerland played Costa Rica to a 3-3 draw in their Group finale.  La Nati botched an own goal at game’s end to blow the win.  This was after Josip Drmic put Switzerland ahead at the 88 minute mark.  Such an ending hardly entices gamblers to run towards the betting windows.  It was a clumsy ending that will be hard for many punters to forgive.  A classic and painful bad beat.

Sweden so Far

Sweden won two and lost one as the top team in Group F.  They scored five goals while allowing two.  In their opener the Blue Yellow earned a plodding 1-0 win over South Korea.  Germany beat Sweden 2-1 in their second match.  It was an excruciating defeat for the Blue Yellow.  Toni Kroos brook a 1-2 draw at the 90 minute at the 94:39 mark.  Few believed that the Swedes could pull themselves back together.  Yet they showed great resolve in their third match.  Sweden bombed red hot upstart Mexico 3-0.  It was the ultimate character statement.

No Zlatan No Problem

Sweden was a team in transition during qualification.  They previously revolved around star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.  Without question Ibrahimovic was often the best player on the pitch.  He epitomized what an impact player is all about.  Yet since his departure Sweden became a much more complete team.  Manager Janne Andersson found it easier to build a team culture.  The sportsbook online results were highly profitable.  Solid Emil Forsberg is emblematic of the remade quad.  He is a technically complete midfielder.  And more mild mannered than Ibrahimovic.

 Matchup to Watch

Neither team brings World Cup betting offensive prowess.  But Sweden has had the better look all tournament.  Of the two teams the Blue Yellow has just a bit more.
