Mexico’s off to a Good Start

The Mexico win over Germany was not a betting the World Cup accident.  The Mexicans ambushed the Germans.  They immediately set the tone.  Taking the attack, they nearly scored to open the game.  Germany was back on their heels.  And never really recovered from Hirving Lozano’s goal at the 35 minute mark.  Germany did mount an all out second half offensive.  But it was too little too late.  Mexico was ready for them.  And adjusted tactics accordingly.  Their defensive posture was perfect.  And Guillermo Ochoa went down in history with nine saves.  Where does Mexico now go from here?

Is Korea a Serious Contender?

The win over Germany may be the biggest in Mexico history.  But only if they use it as a springboard.  Fortunately, South Korea is nowhere near their class.  But the possibility of a letdown is a legitimate concern.  The Mexican team expended a lot of emotional fuel against the Germans.  And it will be hard to take the South Korean team seriously.

Hirving Lozano

Mexico is a strong defensive team.  That showed in the final stages against Germany.  They were able to withstand the onslaught.  Hirving Lozano is the man to watch for Mexico.  He is an elite striker.  Germany learned that the hard way.

South Korea

South Korea suffered a sportsbook online loss in their opener.  Sweden defeated them 1-0.  The clean sheet was no surprise.  South Korea is one of the least capable offensive teams in the field.  They limped into Russia after a sluggish qualification.  Qualifying was based more on terrible opponents than their own ability.  During qualification the South Koreans won just four out of 10 games.  And all of the wins came at home.  Coach Uli Stielike paid with his job.

Important Names in South Korea

New South Korea coach Shin Tae-Yong has helped the Taeguk Warriors improve.  The team unleashed its overall speed.  And attacking ability too.  Son Heung Min is their top player.  He has the credibility of starring for Tottenham Hotspur.  Playing at a top level in the EPL and UEFA Champions League impresses.  As well as draws attention.

Matchup to Watch

Limited South Korea does not match up well with Mexico.  They already lack offense.  And the Mexican defense is a Betting the World Cup advantage.  It should stifle the Taeguk Warriors.  Mexico has the momentum and superior firepower here.
