Los Angles Boasts Top Two Favorites with MLS Odds

June 12th, 2019 Football Soccer, Sportsbook

Following their 2018 Major League Soccer championship Atlanta United FC was favored to repeat with the MLS odds.  Thus far in the MLS season Atlanta has shown something of a championship hangover.  In fact, it is on the Western Conference side where the top to betting favorites have emerged.  Los Angeles FC and the LA Galaxy have the full attention of gamblers.  Correlate their standing at the top of the MLS futures board.  Along the same lines the Philadelphia Union is on top of the Eastern Conference.  Parity has shown to be the rule in the East so far.

LA-LA Land

On the whole Los Angeles FC has been the most impressive team with the MLS odds.  Founded only four years ago they have developed into a top contender.  Coach Bob Bradley has a versatile resume that includes international experience.  Commencing with a record of 11 wins, one loss, and four draws is a season of promise.  LAFC has a goal differential of +26.  No wonder gamblers are betting them up.  Namely Carlos Vela has stood out as a dominant force.  Vela has 16 goals with 10 assists this season.  Diego Rossi has added eight goals.

Championship Galaxy?

To begin with the LA Galaxy is a marquee MLS franchise.  This goes back to the signing of David Beckham.  While Beckham is gone, he was the big-name draw needed from 2007-2012.  LA has won five MLS Cup championships in their history.  Late on the Galaxy have had the look of championship potential.  LA has posted a sportsbook record of nine wins, six losses, and one tie.  Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads the Galaxy with 11 goals and three assists.  However secondary scoring remains a concern.

Atlanta United for a Repeat?

Atlanta has perked up with two consecutive wins.  As a result, the defending champions have eight wins, five losses, and two draws.  In turn Josef Martinez leads Atlanta United FC with 10 goals and two assists.  Following a slow start Atlanta looks ready for a repeat run.

Philadelphia Freedom

Overall no team has been a surprising as the Philadelphia Union.  Philly is riding a three-game winning streak.  By reason is an Eastern Conference best record of nine wins, four draws, and four losses.  Of great concern is the lack of a marquee goal scorer.

Matchup to Watch

In this situation Atlanta looks ready to make their move with the MLS odds.  But LAFC is looking like a powerhouse team to beat.  Eventually the question will come down to betting value.  Public attention is all over LAFC right now.  Eventually bargain hunters will look for alternatives.

MLS Betting Odds Picks

In sum Atlanta is a proven champion at an improved price.
