The most impressive team so far in World Cup odds has been Germany. They opened up World Cup betting with a dominating 4-0 win over Australia. The win by Germany puts them in a very good position to win Group D although Australia is not a good team and was really no threat in World Cup odds. World Cup odds on Friday favor Germany against Serbia but the match should be a much better test of just how good Germany is. The win against Australia was by a 4-0 score and it could have been more. Australia simply was not prepared to handle Germany’s pressure. GER looks good but they still have some concerns. Klose is not in shape to go for a full match as he was substituted for in the 68th minute in the match against Australia. GER also got no test against Australia and that is somewhat of a problem. GER has not played a decent opponent since March. That could change on Friday though when they play Serbia.
GER was one of the main contenders in World Cup odds before their first match. One of the concerns was that the team would miss Michael Ballack who is injured. They sure didn’t miss him in their first match but they might miss his leadership when the going gets tougher. That may or may not happen on Friday against Serbia. The Serbian team was beaten by Ghana in their opener although they probably deserved a better result. The Serbian team will now face a must-win in the match against GER on Friday.
GER doesn’t want to slip up in this match since they know that Ghana will probably defeat Australia on Saturday. Finishing first in the group is critical if Germany wants to have the best chance of advancing. Serbia should be at their best on Friday and that means GER should get a good test. GER is favored in World Cup betting odds in that Friday match while Ghana is heavily favored on Saturday to dispatch of Australia.
