As the 2015 English Premier League Season gets underway it’s time to take a look and preview the Manchester United F.C. (Red Devils) upcoming seasons!
Yes, we are just days before we have the start of the excitement of the EPL as the season begins for 1 of the more popular soccer leagues on the planet, and United is a team to watch this season as they are eager to return and take the Title which they have not seen in the past 2 seasons.
In 2014 United had another season without the trophy, and in the offseason spent big in the transfer market. Early they signed M. Depay a Dutch player from PSV Eindhoven in May for 25 million Euros. Next the Red Devil added to the midfield as they signed M. Schneiderlin of Southampton, and B. Schweinsteiger the German Star from Bayern Munich.
On the defensive side the Red Devils CEO E. Woodward signed from Torino, Italian right back M. Darmian, and now seeking to sign center back S. Ramos of Real Madrid.
Now there still remain lots of questions, as United begins in this new season, and one of the leading questions involves goaltender D. Gea and the rumor he could go to Real Madrid. Gea was a key factor in the success of the Red Devils in their last 2 seasons and his loss would be significant. Then it seems that A. Di Maris may be headed to PSG the French Champions who are seeking his presence on their roster.
As we begin the season, the key player for Manchester United in none other than W. Rooney whom their Manager L. van Gaal believes in completely. This past season the Red Devils played Rooney, the team Captain in several positions, and this season he will be the central striker. It seems strange that it took the Manager that length of time to make that decision, since Rooney has excelled as central striker in past seasons.
During the 2012 season Rooney was the main central striker and made career high 34 goals for that year. Since R. van Persie has left Rooney needs to pick up the lead in scoring again, as the 20 time champions of the EPL this season since last year in various positions had only 14 goals in the 37 games in which he played.
And each season there is no bigger game for the team and the fans, than their regular season match-ups with interleague rivals Liverpool F.C. (The Reds) which means we have the Red Devils playing arch rivals The Reds and that key game is to be played on the 12th of September 2015 at home in Old Trafford at 12:30 PM ET. So the fans will not have to wait long for this rivalry to star this coming season, only till the 2nd week in September 2015. In that anticipated showdown, it will be important for United to come away victorious and gains the three points, in the game they won last season on 2 occasions.
The best that can happen this season is that United seals a deal with S. Ramos and beef up their back line, and then Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin come through to give the Red Devils the midfield muscle they’ve been lacking the last 2 seasons. Also, Rooney needs to renew his central role, and score at the least 30 goals for United, in this season. If all that happens Manchester United will capture once again the title in this Premier League.
Then the worst that can happen is the Red Devils could lose Captain Rooney to an Injury and that would be a catastrophe for United, since their scoring options this season are limited. If that would happen, more than likely Manchester United will have another year without a trophy in the EPL.
