There was a time that American sports fans knew very little about Tour de France betting or any of the names listed in the Tour de France betting odds.

But Lance Armstrong changed all that and while Tour de France betting is still not exactly the most high-profile sport in country, almost everyone knows who Armstrong is, whether or not they’ve ever played the Tour de France betting odds.

Now retired, Armstrong’s massive stature stills casts a shadow over the event and he is still the athlete most associated with the Tour de France betting even though he no longer participates.

Before Lance Armstrong rose to prominence in and out of Tour de France betting circles the Americans were only vaguely familiar with the world of cycling and Tour de France betting odds. Former cycling great Greg LeMond actually made the first impact in the Tour de France betting by any American and in the 1980s he won -what at that time what was an outstanding- three Tour de France betting odds titles.  In doing so he became the first non-European rider to win the event multiple times and made quite a name for himself in the Tour de France betting world.

But it wasn’t until the amazing Armstrong came into the picture that the American’s taste for Tour de France betting was really piqued. Armstrong did the unthinkable and not only did he match LeMond’s career mark for wins the Tour de France betting he did it in consecutive years. And when he reached three wins in a row to match the Tour de France betting exploits of LeMond, he didn’t stop there. In fact, Armstrong didn’t stop until he had amassed a record seven straight Tour de France betting titles.

What’s even more impressive in terms of Tour de France betting history is that the victories were all achieved in consecutive years. Before Armstrong achieved this feat it would have been considered impossible that any athlete could win the grueling Tour de France betting seven straight years. But Armstrong proved the impossible to be possible and his great feats in Tour de France betting have made him one of the most famous and respected athletes in the world.
