Chris Froome

Chris Froome won the 2017 Tour de France for the fourth time in his career.  But once again doping is the cloud over the Tour.  It is the one constant to this event.  And it has thrown the betting into chaos.  Froome’s presence is the biggest question.  The handicapping dynamics will completely flip if he is not in the field.  Froome may not be a Betting Odds for Cycling favorite with everyone.  He had a difficult time at Giro d’Italia.  Several crashes there concerned handicappers.

Geraint Thomas

Yet at the end Froome recovered to win the event.  It was quite the testament to his tenacity.  Should Froome make the Tour he will be a justifiable favorite.  After all he is the proven champion.  Whether Froome enters or not his teammate will be among the chalks.  Geraint Thomas adds to the dominance of team Sky.  Thomas has proven to be a top shelf rider in his own right.  His win at Criterium du Dauphine garnered considerable respect.  And catapulted him as a sportsbook online favorite for the Tour.

Richie Porte

Another rider to keep an eye on is Froome’s friend Richie Porte.  A former teammate of Froome this looks like Porte’s best shot of his career.  The Australian was among the top tier favorites last year.  And he demonstrated impressive strength at the 2017 Tour de France.  But he crashed out to end his championship bid.  Yet his efforts have many gamblers choosing him as a value selection.  He rides for BMC Racing.

Jakob Fuglsang

Jakob Fuglsang of Team Astana rates a look as well.  He could bring exceptional value.  Fuglsang finished second to Porte at the Tour de Suisse.  Nairo Quintana is another top choice to evaluate.  The Colombian disappointed in 2017.  He failed to win the Giro d’Italia or Tour de France.  But he is eager to make amends in 2018.  And believes he is capable of far more than what he produced last year.  Quintana has finished second twice in the Tour de France.  He also has a third place finish at the Tour.  Those close calls add to the intrigue.

Romain Bardet

Local hero Romain Bardet is an impressive climbing specialist.  He finished third in the general classification last year.  Bardet aims to become the first Frenchmen to win the Tour since 1985.

Matchup to Watch

The Betting Odds for Cycling dynamics all depend upon Froome’s status.  His win in Italy despite numerous crashes is illustrative of his greatness. If he makes it to the Tour he has to be the pick.  If not, Thomas would rate the call as Froome’s top teammate.

Cycling Betting Odds Picks

Chris Froome is the pick if he enters.  Thomas rates the call if Froome is absent.

Cycling Betting Online Pick: Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas.
