No Grey Cup hangover for the Stamps

As you may or may not know or remember, the Stampeders lost the 104th Grey Cup, 33-39, to the Ottawa Redblacks, but unlike the Panthers in the NFL (and possibly the Falcons), the Calgarians had no problem qualifying for the playoffs for the 13th straight year with a league-best 13–4–1 record, including tying for the third-best single-season winning streak in CFL history with 11 consecutive wins. The Stamps got a bye and went straight to the West Final, wherein they defeated the Edmonton Eskimos 32-28. However, “Winning the West is not going to be enough. If we can’t finish the deal and get the job done against a great opponent, well-coached, it’s going to feel hollow again,” head coach Dave Dickenson said. If history is anything to go bye, the Stamps have a pretty good shot at redemption, having won the last eight meetings with the Argos, last losing to them in September of 2013. The Stampeders are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 postseason games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five on the road, and 0-5 against the Canadian football betting spread in their last five overall.

Golden Fleece within reach of Argonauts

Like the Argonauts of myth, the Toronto Argos close to their ultimate goal, as close as they have been since 2012, but the last and biggest hurdle remains on the way – the Stamps, who went 2-0 SU and outscored the Argos 64-31 in the regular season. The Torontonians have shown however that they have what it takes to overcome adversity, like when that modern-day Jason, Ricky Ray, rallied the Argos from a three-point deficit to a 25-21 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the East Final. “To be put in that situation and see the guys go out and execute really well . . . and go down and score, it feels awesome right now,” Ray said. “It feels really awesome. They [game-winning drives] are all special but just being in this moment right now, man, with everything that was on the line, this one feels pretty good.” It was the culmination of the journey head coach Marc Trestman and general manager Jim Popp embarked on when they took over the helm of the capsizing ship that were the Argos. The Argonauts are 3-9 ATS when playing a team with a winning record, 14-30 ATS in their last 44 at home, and 6-2 against the Canadian football betting spread in their last eight overall.
