CFL Teams Fluctuate in the Standings and With 2025 Grey Cup Futures

Following six weeks of play, the CFL Odds are showing incredible weekly fluctuation and changes. Last week, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats caught the Montreal Alouettes for the lead in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders are tied for the lead. However, the always dangerous Winnipeg Blue Bombers are only a half game behind. On the other hand, the Toronto Argonauts are one of the biggest disappointments in the CFL. Toronto is just two years removed from a Grey Cup championship. However, it may as well be a million years.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats Make a Leap

Last week, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats won their third consecutive game, 23-20 over the Ottawa Redblacks. However, Hamilton failed to cover as 5.5-point home favorites. Previously, Hamilton beat the sports betting odds in its two prior games. With the win over Ottawa, Hamilton earned a share of the Eastern Conference lead. Hamilton is 3-2 straight up, 20-3 against the spread, and 3-2 over the total.

Overall, Hamilton ranks 5th for total offense and 1st for scoring offense. Hamilton ranks 8th for rushing offense but 2nd for passing offense. In turn, Hamilton ranks 4th for total defense and 6th for points allowed.

Namely, QB Bo Levi Mitchell is off to a strong start. To show, Mithcell has a .667 completion rate with 1485 yards, 11 TD passes, and only one interception. Mitchell’s favorite receiver is Kenny Lawler. So far in 2025, Lawler has 30 receptions with 578 yards, 19.27 yards per catch, and seven TDs.

Late on, Hamilton has not posted a winning record since 2021. The Ti-Cats have not won a Grey Cup since 1999. However, Hamilton fans and gamblers are taking notice of the Cats’ improved play.

Last place in the CFL West belongs to the Edmonton Elks

So far in 2025, a former power and legacy franchise has been with the CFL betting lines. Consider that Edmonton has 14 Grey Cup championships. However, their last Grey Cup title was in 2015. So far this season, Edmonton is 1-3 straight up and against the spread and 3-1 over the total. In sum, Edmonton ranks 9th for total offense, 7th for scoring offense, 9th for total defense, and 9th for scoring defense.

Of major concern is the inconsistent performance by quarterback Tre Ford. So far, Ford has a respectable .678 completion percentage but only 984 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Since 2017, Edmonton has not produced a winning season. The Elks have missed the playoffs in four consecutive campaigns.

Last week, the Elks were routed at home 32-14 by the BC Lions. Edmonton was humiliated with a 521-161 total yards discrepancy.
