The Lions opened their 2017 season with a 27-30 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday. Signal-caller Ricky Ray completed 32 of 42 attempted passes (78%) for 506 yards with one TD pass to DeVier Posey – who posted 147 receiving yards – and no interceptions. SJ Green and Jeff Fuller had 124 and 104 receiving yards, while Cody Fajardo added a rushing TD.

The Alouettes held off the Saskatchewan Roughriders 17-16 on Thursday thanks to a missed field goal by Crapigna with no time remaining. As hinted above, the Eskies conceded a two-score lead but Quarterback Mike Reilly connected with Brandon Zylstra for a 76-yard gain and set-up a game-winning Sean Whyte field goal with not time on the clock. Reilly finished 20 of 28 for 315 yards and two TDs, while RB John White had 104 yards and Zylstra added 152 receiving yards. Former LA Rams wide receiver proved to be a big fish in a small pond with 110 yards and a touchdown on four catches.
