McPeek Looking for First Win Breeders Betting

November 30th, 2010 Breeders Cup Betting

Breeders betting will see trainer Ken McPeek trying for his first ever Breeders Cup win.

He has five horses in Breeders wagering this year and could have a chance to end his Breeders Cup drought.

Breeders betting had seen McPeek have ten starters in the past and four of those ten finished second or third.  The trainer didn’t do much in 2005 and 2006 but has come back this year to win the Keeneland Race Course training title.  Now he will look to end the year with at least one Breeders betting victory.  In 2001 he trained Repent who was second in the Juvenile in Breeders betting.  Last year in the Juvenile Fillies he had Dream Empress who was second in Breeders wagering.  In the 2000 Juvenile Fillies it was She’s a Devil Due finishing third while he had Tejano Run finishing third in the 1994 Juvenile.

One of his top horses this year in Breeders betting is Noble’s Promise.  The horse went five furlongs in :59.20 at Santa Anita Park over the weekend.
“He didn’t miss any training, just a workout,” McPeek said. “I decided not to breeze him last weekend because it just wasn’t 100%. We brought five out here, so out of the five, you have to expect something to go wrong with one of them.”  Noble’s Promise won the Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes in late September and last month the horse won the Breeders’ Futurity. “This colt is what I call, ‘The little engine that could,’ ” McPeek said. “He’s very smart and confident. He really likes what he does. He’s not an obvious horse. He’s an overachiever.”

McPeek also has Bridgetown, House of Grace, Beautician and Connie and Michael in Breeders betting.  Bridgetown will be in the Juvenile Turf in Breeders betting.  House of Grace is set to go in the Juvenile Fillies Turf in Breeders betting.  Beautician is set for the Juvenile Fillies and Connie and Michael will go in the Juvenile Fillies in Breeders wagering.

Breeders wagering begins on Friday, November 6th with a total of six races. The Marathon leads off Breeders betting on Friday followed by the Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Juvenile Fillies, the Filly & Mare Turf, the Filly & Mare Sprint and the Ladies’ Classic in Breeders betting.  Saturday, November 7th there are eight races in Breeders wagering.  It starts with the Juvenile Turf in Breeders betting and is followed by the Turf Sprint, the Sprint, the Juvenile, the Mile, the Dirt Mile, the Turf and the Classic in Breeders betting.
