There are high hopes for this year’s group of European horses in Breeders Cup wagering.
There will be about 25 European horses and three of them should go off as the favorites in Breeders Cup odds at SBG.
Goldikova
When you talk about the European horses you simply have to start with Goldikova. If not for Zenyatta, this is the horse that people would be talking about. Both Zenyatta and Goldikova will be trying to win their third Breeders Cup race and that is something that has never been done. Goldikova will be heavily favored in the Mile. She might be the one sure thing in the Breeders Cup if there is such a thing.
Midday
This horse will try and win the Filly and Mare Turf again and will be favored to do so. She has to deal with two other European challengers in Hibaayeb and Plumania but the Breeders Cup odds suggest that her biggest challenger will be Red Desire
Workforce
This horse should be favored in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs on Saturday. He won the Derby at Epsom by seven lengths but then did nothing in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. He bounced back and won the Arc but the question is whether he can put together two great races.
Other European Horses
Michael Stoute will send Dux Scholar in the Juvenile Turf. The horse will probably go off at about 10-1 but has a chance considering Stoute has own the last two Juvenile Turfs with Donativum and Pounced. The Marathon will have Aidan O’Brien’s Bright Horizon and Paul Cole’s Precision Break. The Brian Meehan trained Theyskens’ Theory will go in the Juvenile Fillies.
