The Europeans will have another invader in Breeders Cup betting as Workforce is headed to the Breeders’ Cup Turf.
Trainer Michael Stoute is pleased with how his horse is training and is confident heading into the Turf race. Workforce does have some history working against him but he will be a contender in Breeders Cup odds at Sbg global.
Bad Trend against Workforce
While Stoute is confident in his horse he will have to overcome a bad trend. The Derby and Arc winner has never won a Breeders Cup race. The winner of the Arc has never won at the Breeders Cup. Eight Arc winners have come up short. Dylan Thomas, Bago, Sakhee, Montjeu, Subotica, Saumarez, Trempolino and Dancing Brave all lost in the Breeders Cup. The best effort probably came from Sakhee, who was finished second to Tiznow in the 2001 Breeders Cup Classic.
Breeders Cup Betting Trends for the Turf
Since there was a dead head in 2003, there have been 27 horses that finished first in the 26 runnings of the Breeders Cup Turf. Many of the winners of the Turf have come from Europe or at least had their final prep there. In fact, 48% had their final prep in Europe. 26% had their final prep at Belmont Park. If you go for win and place wagering in Breeders Cup odds then you have more to look at. 40% of the horses that finished first or second had their final prep in Europe and 31% had theirs at Belmont Park. How important is winning your final prep? Almost half of the winners of the Turf won their final prep race. The ones that finished first or second, 40% won their final prep. And 78% finished in the top three in their final prep. It means the horse had better be in good form or he has virtually no chance to win the Turf.
