The Breeders Cup Mile will favor Goldikova in Breeders Cup betting with Paco Boy one of the contenders. Paco Boy has had four chances against Goldikova in the past and come up short each time. He will get another shot in the Mile and he will be an underdog in Breeders Cup odds at SBG.
Last Race for Paco Boy – The Breeders Cup Mile will be the last race in the career of Paco Boy and Breeders Cup betting. His trainer Richard Hannon said that this will be the last chance for his horse to finally beat Goldikova. The Mile could have a decent field but Goldikova will be a solid favorite regardless of who the challengers are. Paco Boy is one of those challengers but so far he just has not gotten it done against the great mare.
Paco Boy 11 for 22 – Paco Boy is a 5-year old who has won has of his 22 career starts. He has some impressive wins including the Prix de la Foret in 2008, the Queen Anne in 2009, and the Lockinge this year. He did not do well in the 2009 Dubai Duty as he finished in eighth. That was a rare bad outing for Paco Boy who was racing on a left-handed course which is what the U.S. uses.
Close Misses – It is not like Goldikova has run over Paco Boy in their races. Earlier this month it was Paco Boy losing by a half length in the Foret. Paco Boy was just a neck back in the Jacques le Marois in August. Trainers don’t like to lose to a horse over and over again but it Paco Boy loses in the mile he would be 0-5 against Goldikova. And that seems the likely scenario.
Big Field Possible – It is possible that the Mile could have a large field in Breeders Cup betting. A number of trainers are considering entering their horses in the Mile. Gio Ponti’s connections are looking at the race. They are also looking at the Classic. Courageous Cat was second in the Mile last year and he should be in the field. Rip Van Winkle may end up in the Mile if he doesn’t go in the Classic. Another likely horse for the Mile is Sidney’s Candy and he is training well for the race at Hollywood Park.
