At the onset of the week, Ted Noffey opened as an even-money favorite in the Juvenile. Namely, Todd Pletcher is the trainer of Ted Noffey, and that association will draw plenty of betting activity. Pletcher is in the elite class of trainers.
Ted Noffey has three wins in three starts, which explains his favored status. Last time out, Ted Noffey won the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Futurity on October 4, 2025, at Keeneland. At the beginning of the week, Sovereignty opened as the Breeders’ Cup Classic favorite at 15/8. Following Sovereignty is Sierra Leone at 5/1, Fierceness at 6/1, Forever Young at 10/1, Mindframe at 10/1, Journalism at 12/1, Baeza at 16/1, Antiquarian at 20/1, and Nevada Beach at 25/1.
On the whole, no horse entering Breeders’ Cup weekend has a hotter hand than Sovereignty. Sovereignty is coming off four consecutive wins and has six wins in his last seven starts. Of course, Sovereignty is best known as the winner of the 2025 Kentucky Derby. Additionally, he was the winner of the Belmont Stakes, the Jim Dandy, and the Travers Stakes in his latest start on August 23. Additionally, Sovereignty is trained by William Mott and owned by Godolphin, LLC. Everything about this horse is in the elite class.
Chad Brown trains Sierra Leone, who has been racing since November 2023. Naturally, Sierra Leone is a major brand on the board as the winner of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic. This year, Sierra Leone won the Grade 1 Whitney at Saratoga.
Todd Pletcher is the trainer of Fierceness. In like manner to Sierra Leone, Fierceness is 4 years old. Last year, Fierceness finished second to Sierra Leone in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Last time out, Fierceness won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic.
